I use Psychodynamic Therapy and Multicultural Psychology to understand how past experiences or familial/cultural expectations shape the way you are today. Gaining those insights is particularly important for people who are navigating different, and sometimes competing, cultural expectations – women who are in a male dominant field or balancing multiple roles, immigrants and first-generation individuals, and people who are in an interracial/interethnic relationship. While uncovering thought and behavior patterns that interfere with connection and happiness, we’ll identify goals and develop an action plan for lasting changes.
I teach skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy and other evidence-based approaches. You’ll learn how to better communicate your needs, improve relationships or free yourself from difficult emotions. My clients often comment on how useful those skills are in helping them deal with day-to-day challenges and stress, as well as developing self-confidence.
I tailor my work to meet your unique needs and goals. I’m bilingual in English and Mandarin and privy to different styles of communication and emotion expression. In supporting my client’s need to travel frequently for work, I also provide teletherapy.
If you are ready to tap into your internal resources and tackle challenges related to relationships, body image, career and balancing cultural/personal expectations, I would love to speak with you. Let’s talk about how working together can help you achieve your desired goals.
